Creating the WBS

The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is the first step in planning a project. It is a technical tool that involves the hierarchical breakdown of work in order to meet project objectives and create the required deliverables. The WBS organizes and defines the complete scope of the project; however, it does not work if it turns into a list of hundreds of activities that require one or more people to update them periodically.
