Empress Zaria Tafari

Karen aka Empress Zaria is a 20+ year veteran Educator who has taught English Language to students in the USA, China, and Africa ranging in age from infant to corporate and government officials. As an recent English Language Fellow with the US State Department, stationed in Yaounde, Cameroon 2022-2023, Ms Francis’ 10-month Fellowship included an action research project that brought cutting edge, blended learning technologies to students in Africa. Karen, an immigrant from Jamaica, was one of only 200 U.S. citizens selected for the 2022-2023 English Language Fellow Program. While on assignment in Cameroon, Ms Francis facilitated professional development workshops that modeled the use of Project Based Learning via blended learning technologies for students. That research is the basis upon which student group and cultural tours are being hosted in Jamaica. Due to the complexities inherent in these projects, experienced teachers like Ms. Francis, who represent the best of the U.S. TESOL community, are in great demand and highly sought after.
