- US$ 1.42 billion came into the country from tourism in 2012, with an annual growth rate of 5% over 2011.
- There are 3,079 hostelry establishments and the annual growth rate in vacancies / rooms is 3.6%.
- The average temperature of 21°C (70° F) all throughout the year; its more than 360 micro-climates, majestic tropical jungles, and the most modern and cosmopolitan city in the region (from Mexico City to Bogotá, Colombia), make this country the ideal destination for world class tourism.
- 52% of the tourism market in the country comes from Central America and 32% from North America (75% from USA).
The Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT) and the Agency Invest in Guatemala have identified eight large areas which raise diverse possibilities for investment and which present the greatest potential in tourism for the country, for the development of touristic projects.
