The procurement matrix is a guide for managing the contracting of goods and services throughout the life of the project and is an input for developing the procurement plan. This plan identifies and defines the goods and services to be acquired, the types of contracts that will be used, the contract approval process and the decision criteria. The matrix also defines contracting methods and timelines, which are outlined in the project calendar. It should list and justify these items and establish their conditions. The procurement matrix should be detailed enough to clearly identify the necessary steps and contracting responsibilities from the beginning to the end of the project.
