Virtual roundtable "Best practices for the inclusion of women-owned businesses in value chains"

ConnectAmericas invites its community to the event Virtual roundtable "Best practices for the inclusion of women-owned businesses in value chains" 

Although women-owned businesses represent 30% of small and medium businesses worldwide, they get only 1% of total corporate and public procurement spending.

Research conducted in 2022 for the WE3A Project shows that women-owned businesses face several hurdles in global value chains. Among them are limited access to capital and financial products or services, bureaucratic red tape, and high production costs. 

The event aims to address examples of good practices in the Latin American and Caribbean region by promoting businesswomen and their incursion in global trade, public procurement, and financial programs that have proved effective in helping women-owned businesses to succeed.

Our goal is to enrich the debate and promote knowledge exchange in the six countries in the WE3A Project (www.we3a.org).

• Anoush der Boghossian: Head of the Trade and Gender Unit and Founder and Chair of the World Trade Organization Gender Research Hub.
• Crystal Fiallo: Deputy director of Public Procurement in the Dominican Republic.
• Cristina López Mayher: Co-author of the research "Best Practices for the Financing MSMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean: Recommendations for National Development Banks."
• María José Alvarez: Gender and Indigenous Populations Coordinator; Sub-Directorate of Innovation and Competitiveness, Pro-Chile.
