Softel is a company that sells information technology products and provides services associated with it. We promote the development of: Customized IT solutions; Computer solutions in the health sector; expert systems in any branch of knowledge; artificial neural networks for pattern recognition; cloud computing solutions. We offer computer solutions and services in the health sector, with our own products and a portfolio of clients represented in more than 100 health institutions in Cuba. We have a telemedicine platform that allows us to offer a quality service to patients from home. Its benefits include the following: 1.- Teleconsultation: includes patient registration, scheduling of the consultation, execution of the consultation through video-consultation, recording of the results, delivery of the report. 2.- Telediagnosis of Images: includes reception of the images, their processing and analysis, recording of the result report, delivery of the report. 3.- Integration with other systems: allows exchange with other systems through a Service Bus. Innovation is a key elemento of our work. That is why Softel leads two projects which are based on the Science and Technology Park in Havana, Cuba. Both are related to the field of telemedicine and have a significant potential for facing domestic healthcare challenges and for the insertion of products and services with high value added in foreign markets. One project is for the creation of a system for remote patient monitoring. It demanded the integration of three main factors. First, software developers institutions like Softel and Cuba's University of Informatics Science. Second, manufacturers of remote patient monitoring devices which have produced an electrocardiograph which can be used for following patients diagnosed with arrhythmia conditions (COMBIOMED) . Third, healthcare providers, mainly specialist in Cardiovascular pathologies, who test and implement the remote patient monitoring system. The integration of all these actors has paved the way for the creation of a comprehensive service model that will allow home-based attention to patients diagnosed with arrhythmia conditions. The other project is for the creation of a system of Artificial Intelligence (AI) imaging applied to healthcare purposes. In this case, it was also necessary to integrate several institutions: on the one hand, software developers Softel and the Center of Medical Informatics of the University of Informatics Sciences, and on the other hand, the Group of Images Processing, which belongs to the Faculty of Mathematic and Computer Sciences of University of Havana. This Group has relevant results in the creation of algorithms oriented to facilitate healthcare providers diagnose, improving its precision and allowing physician to take decisions in time, regarding patient's conditions. Some of the research lines are related to preventive healthcare for women, since some algorithms facilitate an early diagnose of breast cáncer.
