Eco Growers is a community based organisation formed by ten aspiring young participants of the Youth Agri-preneurship Incubator Programme. The current emphasis of our organisation is on the production of high quality, organically produced vegetables and livestock. At Eco Growers we recognised that the proliferation of imported agricultural produce within the domestic economy is due primarily to inconsistency in product quality and the quantities supplied by local agriculturalist practitioners. We also recognised that Barbados is slowly becoming a food insecure society. Therefore, our initial target markets are supermarkets, farmer’s market and agro-food processors. We at Eco Growers are environmentally sound in our agricultural practices since we believe that Mother Nature is the master creator and we endeavour to use strictly organic inputs in growing our crops and animals. As such our fertilisers, pest deterrents and animal feed are specially formulated using indigenous effective micro-organisms.
