In 2009 the company decided to establish in Uruguay driven by the natural features of the country – its climate and soil – and by its political and legal certainty. The “rules of the game” were clear and its sound institutional structure was crucial for this 2 billion dollar investment to be profitable over the long term.
Montes del Plata is a forest enterprise that aims to produce and export cellulose pulp and eucalyptus to the principal markets in the world, operating efficiently and sustainably from an environmental, economic and social standpoint. It currently has 250,000 planted hectares and is constructing a cellulose plant equipped with cutting edge technology near Conchillas, in the Department of Colonia.
