Established in 1974, the EXCAN coffee exporters union is the most organized, influential, oldest, and most traditional coffee grower association in Nicaragua. With over 25,000 producers, of which 80% are considered small, we believe that the welfare of our producers and industry rely on our combined efforts to produce and promote quality of Nicaraguan coffee.
Traditionally, coffee from Nicaragua had been exported to Germany. Only recently has the North American market shown interest in Nicaraguan gourmet coffee, discovering that it is among the finest grades of coffee in the world, comparable to the "Blue Mountain" from Jamaica which sells for US$ 50 dollars a pound at specialty stores.
