Google, the Internet giant known across the world for its search engine, also offers a wide variety of tools that SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) can take advantage of to make certain tasks easier and less expensive.

Google applications offer the same user experience on all devices, operating systems and browsers. Below we share a list of the most popular, in addition to some extensions recommended by technology experts:

  • Google Drive: allows you to store several documents on the cloud, which can be accessed for editing from any device through a Gmail account. You can also easily share files and folders with others.
  • Hangout: is used to make calls and video calls through a browser on your opened Gmail or Google account. What makes it different from other services is that it allows you to record conversations and publish them on YouTube, and other live stream sites. You can also schedule videoconferences where people can accept the invitation and book the appointment. By downloading an extension, teams of up to 10 members can work collaboratively in Google Docs during the videoconference.
  • Gmail Offline: enables access to your email account and to read, search, and draft emails offline. Drafted emails will be sent out once you connect to the Internet, and filed or deleted conversations will be synchronized. It is ideal for airplane travel without Internet connection and lengthy waiting times.
  • Google Reader: was designed to follow news updates or other information of interest and to read blogs and websites that we are following.
  • Find Big Mail: for those who receive big emails or whose account is always close to the limit, this Gmail extension finds emails of 1, 5 or 10 MB, which you can read, download or delete as necessary.
  • Rapportive: shows basic LinkedIn profile data of the sender inside your email to give you a full idea of who is writing to you and the reasons for contacting you.
  • Banana Tag: enables you to track sent emails and check if they have been read. You can also monitor the links to see if they have been clicked and how many times. Using the free version you can track up to five emails per day.
  • Undo: allows you to stop an email that was sent out by mistake. You can find it under the Settings menu, click on the Labs link and then locate the Undo Send option.
